Dennis Michael Omanoff’s Career at a Glance From 1995 to 1999
In 1995, Dennis Michael Omanoff moved to StrataCom Communications as a Chief Quality Officer. StrataCom was soon after purchased by Cisco for $4 billion. He assisted the company with the California State Quality Award Application, introducing TQM while also implementing rigorous methods of code inspections and international standards of quality and reliability, leading to increased customer loyalty and a better customer experience. One of the core processes requested by customers that was automated and implemented was Customer Call to Escalation, Assignment to Aggregation, Aggregation to Resolution, Resolution to Close, Close to Process Remediation and Improvement; this became a core strength in customer confidence.
In 1996, he transitioned to Fore Systems. As Senior Executive Core Engineering and Quality, he was responsible for the Engineering Development for all of the power systems, designed all of the enclosures, PCB layout, homologation, Engineering IT and SQA. His key to success was the implementation of massive automation and process improvements for MCAD/ECAD to CAD/CAM and integration of an acquired company, resolving a fatal failure mode reliability issue that, once solved, allowed the switch to become greater than 20% of company revenue in 10 months. Dennis led the development life cycle with a unique Software, ASIC and Hardware value-added process, introduced Fagan Inspections for software engineering code development and test automation for Engineering IT for which he was responsible as well. SQA, Software Configuration Management and Integration, Document Control, Total Quality Management, Oracle Implementation and Expansion into Europe were key initiatives and successfully achieved.
Dennis Omanoff reduced development cycle time through cross-functional teams documenting a value-added fast-track process and implementing code inspection requirements, PERT project scheduling, creating web-based engineering change orders, and reducing the complexity of the entire process. He also helped to successfully start up manufacturing and repair options in Ireland.
In 1998, he signed on as the Vice President of Quality, Reliability Engineering, and Product Integration with Advanced Fibre Communications, serving Telecom industry and eventually acquired by Tellabs. Dennis improved global product integrity for the company by improving factory testing and quality, introducing both Highly Accelerated Stress Testing and Highly Accelerated Stress Audits (HALT / HASA). At the time, Bell Atlantic was experiencing central office issues that were blocking company sales. He refocused all NEBS/Bellcore compliance engineering to fix the problem as well as the process and helped to transition the company to several China facilities to expand within the Asia markets. In addition, he improved company financials by implementing an integrated Global OEM/EMS manufacturers across the U.S., China and Thailand.
